“A Food Drive Event”
With 2015 performances at five major festivals, and a string of dates reaching from Seattle to New Orleans, Widespread Panic continues to be one of the most relevant touring entities on the live music scene today. Fans of the band will be excited to learn that Widespread Panic will be going into the studio in late January to begin work on the first studio album in five years. Due out in 2015, the new album marks the band’s first studio release since Dirty Side Down in 2010.
Widespread Panic concert food drives began with the fan-based organization Panic Fans for Food. This organization hosted food drives at Widespread Panic shows throughout the country with the goal of “feeding people through music.” The highly successful effort was handed off to the band in early 2008 and has been going strong ever since. Through their efforts (since 2008) the band has raised a grand total of $96,000 and 12,950 lbs (6.475 tons) of food. Widespread Panic’s generous spirit, and dedication to giving back has helped forge a strong connection between the band and their huge and dedicated fan base.
